Review:
What I love most about the DeWalt 5” orbital sander is the way it has been designed for improved comfort and ease of use. Anyone who has used a handheld sander for any length of time can attest to the toll it takes on your hands.
The separate counterweight reduces vibration considerably. Your hands won’t feel like they are ringing with vibration after a hard day’s work. Comfort is also enhanced by the generous rubber molding on all areas where you grip the sander. This too does a lot to improve user comfort.
The low-profile height is also pretty cool, it allows you to work much closer to the workpiece. In general, this is a super easy sander to use, particularly in tight spaces.
The dust bag, while very small, is one of the easiest to remove and replace, making those frequent trips to empty the thing not much of a hassle. You can also attach a 1¼” hose to a shop vac for more convenient dust removal.
We can’t talk about power tools without mentioning the operative word in the description – power. In this regard the DeWalt 5-inch sander is exemplary. The 3A motor is more than sufficient for a machine of this size, providing a mighty impressive 12,000 oscillations per minute (OPM).
Quality, as one would expect from DeWalt, is of the highest order. It is made from solid, tough plastic with a sealed switch which keeps the sawdust out. As with all DeWalt tools that I’ve owned, I have no doubt that this little bombshell will keep delivering the goods for a long time to come.
I can only conclude that this is one of the best corded 5” orbital sanders around. It is powerful, blissfully easy to use, and made to last. One couldn’t really ask for more.
